| Yonten Gyatso (Yundeng Jiacuo, 云 登加 措), purge actuellement une peine de 7 ans en prison pour avoir envoyé des informations sur la situation politique au Tibet depuis 2008, et partagé des photos à propos de l’auto-immolation de la nonne Tenzin Wangmo en octobre 2011.
Ce moine de 37 ans du monastère de Khashi Samtenling Gyephel à Ngaba [1] a été arrêté le 18 octobre 2011. Il a été détenu au secret et emmené à Chengdu, dans le Sichuan, par les responsables du renseignement en collaboration avec les responsables de l’armée de Ngaba. Il a été maintenu dans une prison de Bungyang et sévèrement torturé. Pourtant, la Chine est un État partie prenante de la Convention des Nations-unies contre la torture et autres peines ou traitements cruels, inhumains ou dégradants. Le 18 juin 2012, Yonten Gyatso a été condamné à 7 ans de prison par le Tribunal populaire intermédiaire de Ngaba. Je crois que Yonten Gyatso a été emprisonné en violation de l’Article 19 de la Déclaration universelle des Droits de l’Homme des Nations-unies, et du Pacte international relatif aux droits civils et politiques dont la Chine est signataire, qui garantissent la liberté d’expression, et je demande donc instamment sa libération immédiate et inconditionnelle. |

| Yonten Gyatso (Yundeng Jiacuo, 云登加措) is currently serving 7 years in prison for sending information about the political situation in Tibet since 2008, and sharing photos about the self-immolation of the nun Tenzin Wangmo in October 2011.
This 37-year-old monk of Khashi Gyephel Samtenling monastery in Ngaba was arrested on October 18th, 2011. He was held incommunicado and taken away to Chengdu in Sichuan by intelligence officials in collaboration with army officials in Ngaba. He was kept in a jail in Bungyang and severely tortured. Yet, China is a State party to the UN Convention against Torture and Other Cruel, Inhuman or Degrading Treatment or Punishment. On June 18th, 2012, Yonten Gyatso was sentenced to 7 years in prison by the Ngaba Intermediate People’s Court. I believe Yonten Gyatso has been imprisoned in violation of Article 19 of the United Nation Universal Declaration of Human Rights and the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights to which China is a signatory, which guarantee freedom of expression, and I therefore urge his immediate and unconditional release. |
